mEET THE REGULATORS - Malta business REGISTRY (MBR)As part of its ongoing commitment to supporting the accountancy profession, the MIA is currently organising the sixth session in its Meet the Regulators series, featuring the Malta Business Registry (MBR). The event is set to take place on 16 June 2026 and will offer participants a direct platform to engage with the Registry on matters related to day-to-day practice, together with relevant explanations and potential areas of improvement. Participants are also welcome to submit any questions in advance. Please send these to technical@miamalta.org by Monday, 1st June, to ensure they can be addressed during the session. Ms Maria Cauchi Delia - Chief Executive Officer, MIA Maria Cauchi Delia is the Chief Executive Officer of the Malta Institute of Accountants, the sole professional accountancy body in Malta. In her role, she leads the institution in the fulfilment of its strategic objectives, in advising national and international institutions in matters concerning the profession and the wider financial industry and represents the MIA in its engagements with key stakeholders at both national and international level. As a certified public accountant, Ms Cauchi Delia brings extensive expertise gained from her diverse experience in both the public and private sectors, having worked in various institutions in Malta and abroad. She holds a degree from the University of Malta and is a Fellow Member of the Malta Institute of Accountants.
Dr Dorita Cardona heads the Legal and Enforcement Unit at the Malta Business Registry. She obtained her Doctor of Laws degree from the University of Malta in 2010 and was called to the Bar in 2011. |
Dr Geraldine Spiteri Lucas - Chief Executive Officer, MBR Dr Geraldine Spiteri Lucas is currently the Chief Executive Officer and Registrar of Companies and other Legal Persons, within the Malta Business Registry. Dr. Spiteri Lucas is a lawyer by profession who acquired a Doctor of Laws from the University of Malta and a warrant to practice in the Maltese Courts. She also earned a Masters Degree in European Studies and Comparative Law. Dr. Spiteri Lucas started her career with a leading local law firm, advising local and international clients on civil, commercial, corporate, shipping, and aviation law. This resulted in representing various clients in litigation procedures before Tribunals and local courts. Then she moved to the Registry of Companies as a Legal Officer and, previously to her appointment as CEO, she used to Head the Legal and Enforcement Unit of the said entity and oversaw its overall function. She sits as a member and representative of the European Region on the executive committee of the Corporate Registries Forum, which brings together registries from all across the globe. She is also the Chairperson of the CRF’s Beneficial Ownership Working Group and the Chairperson of the National Foreign Direct Investment Screening Office. Dr Spiteri Lucas is also a visiting lecturer and a member of the board of examiners for the Department of Commercial Law at the University of Malta.
Ms Annalise Zammit is the Chief Operations Officer & Deputy Registrar at the Malta Business Registry and is responsible for Corporate Services: IT, HR, Finance, Administration and Communication. Also, Ms Zammit assists the Registrar in the day-to-day management and performance of the Registry. She is an ACCA qualified accountant and a Certified Public Accountant with almost 8 years’ experience in the financial services sector mainly Banking Supervision |
