Objective: The seminar aims to provide an overview of the latest developments in the field of blockchain and NFTs, as well as explore the potential of metaverse and its impact on the future of digital assets. This will be done by taking on different perspectives, namely investment, legal, regulatory, accounting and taxation.

Agenda:

Panel 1: Investment & IT
The panel discussion aims to provide an understanding of the basic concepts behind Blockchain, NFTs and Metaverse and the technology around them, as well as how they are transforming industries, the challenges they bring along and the investment considerations attached to them, in terms of both opportunities and risks. 

Panel 2: Legal & Regulatory
This panel will be exploring different legal and regulatory factors, including copyrights, data protection and intellectual property rights, as well as other more challenging regulation-related and AML issues when it comes to Blockchain, NFTs and Metaverse. Through obtaining different perspectives from the panel speakers, the session will have a look at the journey that the Maltese jurisdiction has been on in relation to these aspects and what the future entails in this regard.

Panel 3: Accounting & Taxation
This session will provide a walkthrough of different accounting and taxation (direct and indirect) considerations that would be useful for professionals to factor in when dealing with NFTs and cryptographic assets in the Metaverse. The session will also feature taxation-related updates at an EU level and the direction that Malta might be headed towards in this front, as well as a discussion on the accounting standards available today and how they measure up in catering for these new virtual realities
